Wolverhampton Wanderers could soon become a top-six side if they can sort their record out against the bottom-half teams, as they were dominant against Arsenal last time out.
The Midlands club’s main focus will be a European spot from here on in until the end of the current campaign, with a crunch clash with Watford coming up next in the Premier League.
Although, it appears as if Nuno Espirito Santo is eyeing a possible summer swoop at this moment in time, as according to L’Equipe, Wolves are interested in signing Brentford’s Yoann Barbet.
Indeed, the defender is set to become a free agent in the summer transfer window and he’s been excellent this season, so here are the potential consequences of Wolves signing him this summer…
NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO SECURES NEXT CONOR COADY
Wolves signed Conor Coady from Huddersfield Town when the Terriers were plying their trade in the Championship back in 2015, and it’s safe to say that their gamble paid off as he’s now excelling in the Premier League.
Of course, moving for Yoann Barbet makes perfect sense as he could prove to be another masterstroke signing for the Midlands club, and it’s not exactly a gamble with his contract set to expire in the summer.
He has all the ingredients to succeed in the Premier League and has done more than enough to warrant a step up to the top-flight, so Wolves could bag their next Coady if they turn to the Championship once again.
RYAN BENNETT WORRIED
Ryan Bennett has enjoyed a lot of success in the current campaign but he hasn’t had it all his own way as Romain Saiss kept him out of the side at one point.
Of course, Bennett could be slightly worried if Barbet rocks up at Molineux as he’s the only central defender who could be replaced, as the likes of Willy Boly and Conor Coady have been immovable.
