Liverpool had a quiet January window, but could the summer transfer window offer a bit more of an opportunity for spending? Well, if Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Naby Keita get their wish, it certainly will.
He’s enjoyed a fantastic few years over in Germany, and at just 22-years-old, he’s one for the future as well as the present.
Of course, any major move will have consequences, and unfortunately for some, those aren’t always positive. Indeed, especially in the case of Werner, his arrival would have far-reaching consequences that cannot be ignored.
With that said, here are TWO potential consequences of Timo Werner moving to Liverpool…
Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge Leave
Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge have both struggled to make an impact at Liverpool this season, and that’s been a problem for the Reds.
Beyond Roberto Firmino, there is a lack quality depth, and so when the season is busy, the Brazilian is forced to play practically every week under Jurgen Klopp.
That can’t be allowed to continue, and signing a top striker like Timo Werner would certainly go a long way to solving that problem.
However, that would be bad news for Origi and Sturridge. They’ve had their chance, and if Werner did come in, he’d surely mean that both players are moved on. They’ve missed their opportunity, and Werner would gladly take it with both hands.
Naby Keita Improves
It’s not been an easy season for Naby Keita, but the arrival of Werner could really help him out.
Above all else, simply bringing in a familiar face may help the Gunian find his feet on Merseyside, and given the fact that he’s openly called for the German to arrive, that’s a testament to their relationship.
Of course, he could also be very helpful on the field, as both players had a good footballing relationship when at RB Leipzig.
For some reason, it’s not been a very good start to Premier League life for Keita, and so anything to make him realise his potential would be a huge boost for the Reds.
