There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Wilfried Zaha’s future at Crystal Palace, and it is not hard to understand why.
Outside of the Premier League top six, the 26-year-old might just be the best player the division has to offer.
Yet even amid the big interest that is starting to come with that status (Sky Sports), Zaha could still remain at Selhurst Park.
“My future is at Palace. I am at Palace, I am not thinking about anything [else],” the Ivory Coast international told Sky Sports.
Bearing all of that mind, here are two potential consequences for Crystal Palace should they manage to retain their talisman.
Premier League Survival
In the last couple of seasons, Zaha has almost single-handedly dragged Crystal Palace to Premier League safety.
In this Eagles side, the former Manchester United winger is both Roy Hodgson’s marksman and the team’s main creative outlet.
Without him, after Huddersfield Town, the south London club would probably have the bluntest attack on paper in the Premier League.
With him, though, top-flight survival for another year should be secured, which would be sure to delight fans. And, with a couple quality additions in the summer, perhaps even more than that could be achieved.
Quiet Transfer Window
Getting those quality additions, however, could prove to be difficult for Hodgson if Zaha does end up remaining at Selhurst Park.
Last summer, the Eagles did not splash out in the transfer market, a theme some supporters would not be surprised to see continue.
With no large transfer fee from a Zaha sale, Hodgson could once again be forced to work with a relatively small budget.
