Mauricio Pochettino has built an incredible squad at Tottenham, and the fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that next season will be their year.
It’s been a solid few years of growth at Spurs. They’ve gone from Europa League challengers to genuine contenders for the Premier League title, and the players and staff deserve a lot of credit for that.
However, now they need to take it to the next level, and next season, a trophy simply must come to their new stadium.
It’s not going to be easy for them, but the last thing they need this summer is to lose key personnel. Players eyes may be drawn elsewhere with the prospect of winning silverware, but if Tottenham are to reach that next level, they need to keep their heads firmly focused in North London for the time being.
This summer could go down as Spurs’ most important in years, and preventing sales is every bit as important as bringing in new faces.
With that said, Tottenham can’t afford to lose these 2 players this summer…
Mousa Dembele is getting to the end of his career, there’s no doubt about that.
However, this season, he has been as important as ever, and he’s pretty irreplaceable at the moment.
In particular, his display in the first leg against Juventus in Europe was simply sensational – and if Spurs want to do well in the Champions League, he’ll need to be in there.
Next season could end up being his final year, but this season certainly shouldn’t be.
Christian Eriksen is a bit of an unsung hero in the attack.
Dele Alli and Harry Kane, deservedly, get a lot of praise, but Eriksen is every bit as important for Spurs.
His brilliant shooting, passing, technique, set-piece delivery and everything else that he brings to the table combine brilliantly, and it’s fair to say that Spurs wouldn’t be where they are today without him.
The Dane is in the prime of his career.
