For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, nothing is more important than securing the development of young players. The Blues’ academy is filled with quality and potential, and for too long, the Chelsea managers have ignored it as a source of fresh talent.
That does seem to be changing under Antonio Conte, though. The likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu have enjoyed decent integration into the first team this season, and that could be a sign of things to come.
There are far more players, though, that are deserving of a chance in the first team, and Conte must recognise that.
One such player is young Tammy Abraham. Currently on loan at Swansea City, Abraham has impressed over the last 18 months or so, and he put in a characteristically solid performance for the Swans against Notts County last night.
Picking up two goals, the Englishman was arguably the best player on the pitch, and his performance did not go unnoticed amongst Chelsea fans.
Indeed, Blues have taken to Twitter to discuss the performance, and it’s fair to say that they’ve gotten very excited. In truth, they simply cannot wait for him to come back to Stamford Bridge.
See what has been said below…

I’m sure if Tammy Abraham is used in the right way, right system he’ll bang goals for fun. Him having that frame, pace & overall physical presence is just a bonus. That will develop too. He’s a finisher. #CFC must utilise this guy from next season. Even if only sparingly early.

Tammy Abraham goal and assist. Important to get confidence and momentum after injury. Had a good start to the season and happy to see him firing #CFC
