Over the last few days, Chelsea have been linked with a move for Ivorian midfielder Jean Michael Seri, at least according to Sky Sports News. The Nice midfielder has apparently been left out of their pre-season training camp, leaving his future uncertain. He’s been a regular for them over the years, and so it’s a strange decision unless he’s set for the exit door.
It’s a move that is sure to generate headlines among fans, and it appears as though plenty of Chelsea supporters would love to see him join the club.
We recently asked Chelsea fans whether they’d like to see Seri at Stamford Bridge, and it’s fair to say that many would like to see it happen.
In a recent poll, a whopping 75% of fans have responded in favour of a deal, whilst just 25% are not interested in seeing him move to Chelsea.
Of course, both Tiemoue Bakayoko and N’Golo Kante look likely to be regulars at Stamford Bridge next season, but that leaves a gulf in creative class alongside them. Seri would provide that, as many fans seem to recognise.
It’s also likely that the poor form of Cesc Fabregas over the last year or so has contributed to their perspective. The Spaniard is clearly regressing, and so finding a replacement does make sense.
He won’t be cheap, but Seri would be popular among fans.
