The Arsenal supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are very much divided on the topic of Arsene Wenger.
One half of the Tavern want to see the Frenchman depart the Emirates Stadium after yet another drab season, whilst the other sector of the pub have belief and faith in the work Wenger is doing.
Talk of potential successors for Wenger is often discussed amongst the Gooners here in the Tavern, and chat in recent days has been pinpointed onto Juventus manager Max Allegri, who is reportedly ‘locked in talks’ with Arsenal regarding the job.
Similar to the Wenger debate, talk of Allegri has split opinion, with some here in the Tavern thinking the 49-year-old is a perfect suitor for the top job at the Emirates, but some feeling his lack of experience outside of Italy is worrying.
The current Juventus boss spoke out about links with Arsenal to reporters via the Express: “The rumours from England are not true,” Allegri said.
“And I’m not the one to decide my future – Juventus will.
“And if these rumours were true, Juventus would be the first to know and I haven’t talked to Juventus yet.”
As our landlord quips, these are words that’ll either please or upset fans of the north London outfit as the uncertainty around Wenger’s future continues to rumble on.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, the Gunners face off against Bavarian giants Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League tie at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, and face a mammoth task of overturning a 5-1 first leg deficit.
