Everton supporters have been significantly more buoyant in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side pick up a third Premier League victory in four matches by edging past struggling Newcastle United 1-0 at St James’ Park on Wednesday.
Former England manager Sam Allardyce took over at Goodison Park at the rear end of November following the departure of Ronald Koeman, with the club in the relegation zone when the Dutchman was relieved of his duties back on October 24. And the 63-year-old has since led the club to ten points from his opening four games in charge, the latest of which a 1-0 success at Allardyce’s former employers Newcastle with a Wayne Rooney strike midway through the first half enough to secure the three points for the Toffees, and thus their first away league win since January.
Subsequently, there have been many delighted Evertonians in the Tavern this week, and there may some more good news to come for our resident Toffees fans if comments from manager Allardyce in his pre-Swansea press conference are anything to go by.
And that’s because the Everton chief has suggested that Yannick Bolasie ‘could’ feature against Paul Clement’s Swans on Monday after over a year out with a cruciate ligament injury.
The 28-year-old winger only moved to Goodison Park in the summer of 2016 and made a decent start to life on Merseyside, before injury struck in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United back on December 4 of that year.
And the DR Congo international has since been sidelined, yet is set to step up his recovery by appearing for the club’s Under-23s against Dinamo Zagreb on Friday, and how he does in that ‘could’ make him available for selection for the visit of Swansea on Monday night.

And these comments are sure to delight our resident Evertonians, what with Bolasie a hugely talented player and one they didn’t see a great deal of prior to injury this time last year.
Landlord’s verdict: Things are certainly looking up at Everton at the moment, what with a new manager, three wins from four games, and new deals for three of their brightest stars all coming in the last fortnight or so.
And there may be more good news to come as manager Sam Allardyce suggests that winger Yannick Bolasie, sidelined with injury since December of last year, is set to appear for the club’s Under-23s this evening, with a view to possibly making him available for selection against Swansea City on Monday.
And this potentially big news will surely thrill Everton fans up and down the country, with Bolasie’s return likely to feel like a new signing after so long out with injury, yet a lot will depend on how he gets on this evening against Dinamo Zagreb as to whether he features at Goodison Park against the Swans.
