Tottenham supporters have been pretty frustrated in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side only muster a 1-1 draw away at struggling Southampton on Sunday, thus seeing them miss the chance to move above Liverpool in the Premier League table.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men went into their clash with the South Coast outfit having won four of their preceding five league matches, and would have viewed a trip to St Mary’s as a great opportunity to leapfrog Jurgen Klopp’s Reds into fourth place in the division. Yet they were unable to do so as a Davinson Sanchez own goal gave Mauricio Pellegrino’s side the lead, and although Harry Kane equalised just three minutes later, Spurs were unable to find the all important winner to end up drawing for the sixth time in the league this season.
Subsequently, there have been a few deflated Tottenham fans in the Tavern in recent times, yet their mood may be improved by a recent report from L’Equipe, which suggests that reported January target Lucas Moura is unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain, and as such could be on his way out of the club this month.
The 25-year-old made the move to the Parc des Princes back in 2013 and has since been a stalwart in their side, earning 229 appearances for the French giants, in which time he has helped them to four Ligue 1 titles.
However, the Brazil international has fallen down the pecking order under Unai Emery this season, playing just five times in the league, and recent reports suggest that the winger is unhappy with things in the French capital.
And with Spurs reportedly keen on landing the 25-year-old this month, this news may come as a potentially big boost to manager Pochettino in his bid to bring Moura to Wembley.
Landlord’s verdict: Lucas Moura has played 229 times for Paris Saint-Germain since moving there back in 2013, playing over 46 times in all four of his full seasons at the club.
But with just five Ligue 1 games so far this term, and just one more in other competitions, the 25-year-old’s future at the Parc des Princes appears uncertain, and the man himself has since reportedly conveyed his displeasure at things in the French capital.
And with Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham reportedly interested in landing the 25-year-old, this could come as a potentially big boost to the North London outfit, who will surely be eyeing up reinforcements in a bid to usurp Liverpool for a Champions League spot this season.
And news of Moura’s unhappiness may just make a January more likely.
