Potentially huge boost emerges for West Ham ahead of next week’s Liverpool clash

West Ham supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team get back to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 2-0 success over Watford at the London Stadium on Saturday.

David Moyes’ men went into their clash with the Hornets off the back of going down 3-1 to Brighton in their previous league outing, a result which saw their solid run of six games unbeaten come to a disappointing end. Yet the Hammers responded admirably on Saturday as goals from Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic sealed a routine victory for the East London outfit, thus moving them level on points with Javi Gracia’s side in the Premier League table, four points clear of the bottom three.

Thus, there have been many delighted West Ham fans in the Tavern in the last few days, and their mood is likely to be further improved by recent comments from midfielder Manuel Lanzini (via fitness expert Ben Dinnery on Twitter), in which he suggests that he is targeting a return to action against Liverpool next week.

The 25-year-old came off injured in their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth back on January 20 and has since missed their subsequent three Premier League matches, in which time the Hammers have picked up four points to move to 12th place in the division.

Prior to injury, Lanzini had mustered an impressive three goals and six assists in 18 league appearances for Moyes’ side this term to underline his influence on the team, and the Argentine ace has admitted that he is hoping to be fit and available for next week’s trip to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

And these comments are sure to provide a potentially huge boost to Moyes and indeed the club’s supporters, who will be hoping that Lanzini can replicate his pre-injury from when he returns to the starting eleven.

Landlord’s verdict: West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini has missed the Hammers’ last three Premier League games after picking up hamstring injury in their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth last month.

Yet the 25-year-old has confirmed that he is eyeing up a return to action against Liverpool next week, as David Moyes’ men seek to build upon last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Watford at the London Stadium.

And given how influential and integral the Argentine has been for the club in recent years, this is sure to come as a huge boost to Moyes and the club’s supporters, with Lanzini’s efforts likely to play a key part in helping the East London outfit end any lingering relegation fears.
