Arsenal supporters have been pretty downbeat in the Transfer Tavern in recent times after seeing their team win just one of their last five Premier League matches, seeing the Gunners sit sixth in the table on Christmas Day.
Arsene Wenger’s men have on the whole underwhelmed in the league so far this term with ten wins and five defeats from their opening 19 games, although their recent run of form has seen them lose ground on fourth place Liverpool, who drew 3-3 with the North London outfit a few days ago. And although Wenger’s side have only lost one of their last five matches, draws against Southampton, West Ham, and of course Liverpool have somewhat stemmed their momentum, leaving them four points adrift of the Reds heading into their clash with Crystal Palace on Thursday.
Subsequently, there have been some deflated Gunners supporters in the Tavern in recent times, although their mood is likely to be improved by a recent report from AS, which suggests that reported Arsenal target Yannick Carrasco could be allowed to leave Atletico Madrid in January.
The 24-year-old has been in the Spanish capital since 2015 but things appear to have gone downhill for the Belgium international this season, with just five La Liga starts to show for his efforts in the last few months.
And with reports of disruption in the Atletico dressing room, it seems manager Diego Simeone could be ready to let the winger go in January, which is sure to be of interest to Gunners chief Wenger, who has reportedly been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old in recent times.
But with Chelsea also thought to be interested, it remains to be seen whether the North London club are able to secure a deal for the Belgian attacking ace in the New Year.
Landlord’s verdict: Yannick Carrasco has somewhat fallen out of favour at Atletico Madrid in recent times, with reports of dressing room disruption a likely source of his reduced playing time.
And recent reports suggest that manager Diego Simeone is seeking to get rid of the 24-year-old in January, which may well be music to the ears of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, whose side have reportedly been keeping tabs on the winger in recent times.
And with the Gunners outside of the top four places going into the New Year, bringing in a player of Carrasco’s ability could be exactly what they need to get back into the Champions League.
