Tottenham fans have been significantly more buoyant in the Transfer Tavern in recent days after seeing their side get back to winning ways in the Premier League with a 5-1 thumping of Stoke City at Wembley on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men were stuck in somewhat of a rut having won just one of their preceding six matches prior to the visit of the Potters, but they soon put that to bed with a dominant performance at the national stadium. A brace from striker Harry Kane, as well as efforts from Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen alongside a Ryan Shawcross own goal, secured a routine victory for the North London outfit, who moved to within a point of fifth place Arsenal in the Premier League table after they managed a last-gasp draw away at Southampton on Sunday.
Consequently, there have been many more upbeat Spurs fans in the Tavern in the last few days, many of whom are likely to be intrigued by a recent report from The Sun, which outlines a potentially huge boost in their side’s quest to land Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon in coming transfer windows.
The 17-year-old has burst onto the scene in the last 18 months or so with several impressive displays for Slavisa Jokanovic’s side, including a stunning hat-trick in their 5-4 success at Sheffield United back in November.
And with eight further goals and six assists in 53 appearances for the Cottagers, the left-back continues to go from strength to strength, and as such has reportedly attracted interest from some of England’s biggest clubs, namely Manchester United and indeed Tottenham.
And Pochettino’s men appear to have received a huge boost in pursuit of the England Under-19 star, as reports suggest that Jokanovic’s Fulham are looking at left-back reinforcements ahead of the January window, plausibly in anticipation of Sessegnon’s departure.
But whether Spurs are indeed able to get ahead of United and land the starlet very much remains to be seen.
Landlord’s verdict: Ryan Sessegnon’s meteoric rise at Fulham has opened the eyes of many around the country, not least some of the biggest clubs in the land.
Manchester United and Tottenham have reportedly been keeping tabs on the 17-year-old in recent times as his form continues in an upward trend, with four goals and two assists this season further underlining his incredible talent.
And with Fulham reportedly eyeing up left-back reinforcements in January, Sessegnon could well be on his way out of Craven Cottage in the New Year in what could be a huge boost for Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino, who appears to want the youngster at the North London outfit.
And with question marks surrounding the future of left-back Danny Rose, with United no less interested, Pochettino may feel that Sessegnon can be his next long-term left-back at Spurs were he to get a deal done in January.
