We are now just 10 days away from the return of Premier League action although Chelsea supporters will have to wait 12 to see their
team in action for the first time in 2014/15.
Jose Mourinho takes his side to newly promoted Burnley for the first Monday Night Football of the new season, looking to make an early statement in a season where everyone expects them to win the Premier League title.
Last season will be considered a failure by Mourinho’s high standards, despite his insistence it was a campaign of ‘transition’.
Chelsea had enough quality in their squad to win the title last term, having led the pack going into the final months of the season.
Defeats to Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Sunderland proved costly – especially when you consider the Blues did the double over both Manchester City and Liverpool last season – the only two sides to finish above Mourinho’s men.
Jose has since been busy putting the finishing touches to his squad, with a world class centre forward, and world class central midfielder, and a club legend added to the ranks, as well as a new left back and the return of perhaps the best young goalkeeper in world football.
With the squad now at his disposal, Mourinho will be expected to deliver silverware this season and that quest will get underway at Turf Moor.
Here is the predicted starting line up for Chelsea’s opening Premier League clash of the season.
