Swansea fans here in the Tavern are feeling sceptical as their boss Francesco Guidolin has emerged as a shock contender for the Italy job in the summer, according to EuroSport.
Italy are on the lookout for a new manager after Euro 2016 after current national boss Antonio Conte spoke of his intention to step down after the tournament to return to ‘daily working as a club manager’ ahead of his alleged move to Chelsea.
But could the man who has been Swansea manager for two months really be on the shortlist to replace Conte?
Swans fans will have mixed feelings about Guidolin who has a mixed record as their boss with three wins and three defeats from his eight matches so far.
He has missed the club’s last three matches due to illness, a run where they recorded back-to-back victories that look to have cemented their Premier League status for another season.
A few of the Swans’ fans in here are even doubting whether he will be fit enough to return as their manager on a full-time basis so the latest link comes as a big shock to them.
Guidolin is still highly regarded in his native Italy, though, after a career spanning three decades so it will be interesting to see what happens on that front in the summer.
