Wesley Sneijder has been a name discussed over a few pints in the Football Transfer Tavern this weekend, with Simon Mullock of the Daily Mirror reckoning he is ready to walk out on Inter Milan for free.
Sneijder is taking legal advice on how to force his departure from the Italian giants, having been ordered to cut his £180,000 a-week wages by half. Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni has frozen him out until the new deal is signed, and Sneijder has been assured he is within his rights to walk out citing breach of contract and restraint of trade.
This is sure to alert Manchester United, after the club were strongly linked with a big money move for the playmaker over the summer.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham are also monitoring the situation, as well as Fenerbahce and Paris Saint-Germain, although it is understood a move to the Premier League is his preferred choice.
Sneijder has made just five Serie A appearances this season, and hasn’t played since September 26, despite saying ‘I am super fit and I want to play.’
Do you think Sneijder would be a success in the Premier League?
