Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern, along with most other Premier League fans, don’t really understand Andros Townsend.
In the Autumn he played a vital role in ensuring that England would board the plane to South America this season as they qualified for the World Cup.
But then the same player struggled to get into one of the worst Tottenham squads in recent years and fell well down the pecking order.
The Mirror today now claim that Townsend’s days at White Hart Lane could be numbered but there is believed to be a lot of interest from other Premier League clubs.
Everton gaffer Roberto Martinez was keen to land the midfielder last summer but his interest was rebuffed by then Spurs’ manager Andre Villas-Boas.
His interest is now said to have been reborn but Martinez faces competition from Alan Pardew who wants to bring the pacy winger to Newcastle United.
An ankle injury meant that Townsend would not be able to go to the World Cup, although it was unlikely he’d be going anyway on current form.
Newcastle and Everton fans. If Townsend was good enough surely he’d be a regular for Tottenham, or is this an opportunity too good to pass? Let us know your thoughts below.
