Premier League duo Newcastle United and Everton eyeing deal for 25-goal striker

premier league ballFans of both Everton and Newcastle are having a healthy debate this evening in The Transfer Tavern about where a promising League One player would progress better.

The Liverpool Echo is reporting that the Premier League duo are battling to sign teenage striker Bassala Sambou.

The 18-year-old has drawn the attention of the duo due to his form for the youth teams at current club Coventry City, for whom he has netted on 25 occasions this season so far.

The League One side have tried to tie down the impressive striker to a longer term deal, but he has rejected that offer and is looking to further his career elsewhere.

Coventry would be eligible to receive a fee for the youngster should he sign for either side and if they cannot agree on a price, it will be set at a tribunal.

Both sets of fans in The Tavern are pleading their cases for their respective sides well, and it appears that Sambou will be in good hands whoever he wishes to sign for this summer.

Our landlord here in the Tavern admits he doesn’t know too much about the young Coventry City striker, but says if he can turn out to be the next Dele Alli, then what a coup it would be!

Coventry City fans….. What do you make of this news? Would you be gutted to see Sambou leave? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
