Premier League duo scoop first awards of the season

Manchester United v Manchester City - Barclays Premier LeagueSwansea and Manchester City fans have been some of the biggest spenders in the Transfer Tavern of late with both of their teams enjoying fantastic, unbeaten, starts to the season.

And now they both have even more to cheer about as Manchester City Manager Manuel Pellegrini has been awarded Manager of the month, and Andre Ayew of Swansea scooping the player’s award, as reported by BBC Sport.

The Welsh side snapped up the 25-year-old wide man this summer and it seems to be one of the best bits of business our punters and us have seen in a while.

What’s more – something that has had a Swansea fans with their chins on the floor, is that they picked him up for free! Ayew has scored three goals in the opening four games of the Premier League season, helping Swansea to fourth spot in the current Premier League table, and looks a real class acquisition.

After a season in which he came under great scrutiny, Manuel Pellegrini has bounced back in style. His Manchester City team have started the season in near perfect form, winning all four games so far, and not conceding a single goal in the process.

So it has come to no surprise the Chilean has been given the award. They are already eight points ahead of current Champions Chelsea, and have already convincingly beaten them 3-0.

This sort of form and start is exactly what the manager would have been after following a disappointing season last term and could see them regain the Premier League crown.
