It’s been contrasting starts to the season for both Bournemouth and Sunderland fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Bournemouth fans have been loving every minute of their step up to the big league, particularly their thrilling 4-3 win over West Ham on Saturday, whilst Sunderland supporters have been forced to watch their opening three matches hiding behind the pool table – such has been the standard of their defending.
Both teams are still keen to strengthen before the close of the transfer window in just seven days time, with Sky Sports reporting that former Swansea midfielder Jonathan De Guzman is a target for both clubs.
The 27-year-old moved to Napoli at the start of the 2014-15 season, but has struggled to make an impact in Serie A and has been told he can leave for the right price.
De Guzman is understood to have a buy-out-clause of £4.4million, but it is unclear at the moment whether the Premier League duo are looking to sign him on a loan or permanent deal.
De Guzman, who amassed 79 Premier League appearances and 9 goals during his time with Swansea, would be a valuable addition to the midfield of both the Premier League sides, who will be expected to endure a tough relegation battle this season!
Our resident AFC Bournemouth fans here in the Tavern would love to see the ex-Swansea City man at Dean Court this season, and feel he could be the man who can keep the team in the Premier League!
