A rumour involving three big Premier League clubs has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern, with Adrian Kajumba of the Daily Star reckoning that both Tottenham and Newcastle are planning to hijack Liverpool’s January transfer window move for Thomas Ince.
It had been reported that Liverpool agreed a deal in principle with Blackpool to bring the young forward back to Merseyside in January for around £4 million, although it appears both Tottenham and Newcastle have now both tabled bids of their own.
Liverpool are still the favourites to resign the son of their former captain Paul, having agreed a fee and £25,000-a -week terms with the 20-year-old, and were hoping to confirm the deal in early January.
However, sources close to Ince claim the deal is not done and dusted yet, and the bids from Tottenham and Newcastle are sure to make things interesting.
Liverpool let Ince join Blackpool for a fee of £250,000 last year, having previously forged a part of the Reds youth set up, but his brilliant form for the Tangerines ever since has convinced Brendan Rodgers that the winger would be a good fit for his new look side.
If Liverpool do lose out on Ince, all hope isn’t lost for Reds fans with a deal for a fellow Premier League striker all but agreed.
What do you think Liverpool fans? Do you think Ince will come back to Anfield? Would he be a good signing? Vote in our polls below.
