Premier League manager emerges as clear favourite for the Everton job

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to appoint a manager sooner rather than later so he can get to work and start lifting to struggling Toffees away from the relegation zone.

Last weekend’s dramatic comeback victory against Watford saw Everton climb out of the bottom three ahead of the international break.

But poor performances leading up to that win cost Ronald Koeman his job and Everton have since been searching for a new manager.

Sean Dyche is the overwhelming favourite for the job now, The Times are reporting.

The Burnley manager, who has done an excellent job with the Clarets, is the clear front runner now after Everton conceded defeat in pursuit of Marco Silva.

Silva has impressed since taking over as Watford manager but he is committed to the project at Vicarage Road.

Other names have been mentioned.

David Unsworth, the current caretaker, is keen to stake a claim for the role on a full time basis while former West Ham, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and England manager Sam Allardyce is another candidate.

But it now looks increasingly likely that Everton will tempt Dyche away from Turf Moor by offering him a bigger budget and a future project at Goodison Park.
