Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have welcomed the news of Roberto Martinez’s sacking. and some have even criticised the board’s decision of not cutting the cord earlier on in the season.
That said, a new head coach hunt is underway on Merseyside and the Guardian reports that Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is their top target, despite almost certainly having to put up a battle in luring the Dutchman away from St Mary’s.
One incentive of the role is that majority stakeholder, Farhad Moshiri, will allow the new manager £100 million spending money for the upcoming transfer window as Everton look to rebuild.
Martinez propelled the Toffees into a fifth place finish in his first season but failed to replicate that form in the last two, finishing 11th last term and with one game remaining, Everton are in 12th.
Our resident Everton fans think that Koeman would be a fantastic appointment for the club, and would ultimately help take the club to the next level.
