With just six weeks remaining in the Premier League season, the focus in the Transfer Tavern is quickly shifting towards discussions orientating around activities in the transfer market- and there’s a big story today.
The Mirror states Everton are worried Manchester United will snatch their star player Romelu Lukaku this summer, despite the Toffees insisting the Belgian international will not depart Goodison Park this summer.
Lukaku has been surrounded by transfer speculation in recent weeks as the hunt for his signature heats up, whilst the exciting forward has also confirmed publicly that he wants to play for a Champions League side.
With Everton looking quite a way off being a top-four club, the Toffees may face a stern test to keep hold of Lukaku. Although United may also not have Champions League football to offer, Everton believe United are leading the chase for his signature.
Everton paid a club-record price of £28m for Lukaku’s signature almost two years ago and they will demand a large profit on the figure they paid.
