The Manchester United fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern for tonight’s crucial Europa League match are discussing reports praising one of their centre backs.
Metro is reporting that Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has singled out Chris Smalling as the toughest defender he has faced so far this season.
The Leicester front man, who has hit 19 goals so far this season, has described the defender as one of the most difficult to get round and bring people into play.
Speaking about Smalling, Vardy said:
“On a personal level, Chris Smalling [has been my toughest test]. He’s always tight and always around you to stop you from doing your bit on the ball or getting turned. It makes it very difficult for you to bring your team-mates into the game as well.’
Leicester currently lead the Premier League by two points from Arsenal and Tottenham going into Saturday’s game against Norwich City.
The Manchester United fans in The Tavern are delighted that Smalling has been singled out for praise as they feel he has been a positive in an otherwise disappointing season at Old Trafford.
