Premier League side approve sale of key midfielder to Arsenal

WanyamaArsenal fans enjoying a bite to eat in the Transfer Tavern this afternoon were given a surprise boost, after reports claimed a long-term target has had his chances of moving to the Emirates Stadium significantly increased.

The Daily Telegraph state Southampton will sell Victor Wanyama in the summer if he hasn’t signed a new deal, with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur extremely keen on the Kenyan international.

Arsenal have tracked the experienced midfielder ever since his days at Celtic and are still pursuing his signature, despite capturing Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel to bolster their midfield ranks just last week.

With Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta all seeing their contracts at Arsenal expire in the summer, the Gunners are set to shake-up their midfield contingent- and they want Wanyama to be a big part of that.

Rival interest from Tottenham could prove problematic but Wanyama will want Champions League football, which Spurs are in the driving seat to secure but have their work cut out for them in the second-half of the season.

Our landlord believes the 24-year-old midfielder would be the perfect fit for an Arsenal side regularly depleted by injury and that Wanyama would significantly improve the depth within their squad.

Arsenal fans, should signing Wanyama be the priority this year? Let us know in the comments below!
