Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern have experienced a fairly successful season, whilst it shapes up to be an exciting few years in front of them, but there’s the danger of it all falling apart if this rumour comes to fruition.
The Daily Mirror reports Southampton are concerned that Ronald Koeman will not extend his deal on the south coast as he approaches the final 12 months of his current contract- and interest in his services is rising.
Both Arsenal and Everton have been linked with the experienced Dutchman, with the Toffees increasingly likely to replace Roberto Martinez this summer and the Gunners under pressure to move away from Arsene Wenger after a disappointing season.
However, if Koeman was to see out the remainder of his deal it would play well into Arsenal’s hands, with Wenger also seeing his contract expire next summer and it’s unlikely the long-serving Frenchman will extend his deal.
Many fans in the bar are concerned that such a change would be too late for Arsenal though as they believe the Gunners face a stern test to achieve success next season, whilst they doubt their side can get a top-four finish given the rise of their rivals.
