If Manchester United and Chelsea want to snatch a highly-rated Premier League asset this summer, it’s going to come at a hefty price and that’s got the fans here in the Transfer Tavern debating whether a deal is worth it.
The Mirror states Everton are demanding over £50m for the signature of excelling Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, who is the Toffees most expensive recruit after they paid Chelsea £28m for the forward 18 months ago.
Since moving to Goodison Park, Lukaku has established himself as one of the most deadliest finishers in European football and his signature is appealing due to his age of just 23, giving the Belgian plenty of room to develop.
However, despite Lukaku making it vocally clear he wants to play in the Champions League, Everton are not looking to sell and it will take an offer of well over £50m to get the Toffees to play ball in the transfer market.
Therefore, Lukaku’s signature could lead Manchester United or Chelsea to smash their own transfer record, whilst Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on signing the quality striker.
Is Lukaku really worth in excess of £50m? Let us know in the comments below!
