Some shocked expressions have been witnessed around the bar, after The Sunday Times reported Everton have approached Jose Mourinho about their managerial vacancy, with the Portuguese boss still favourite to succeed Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United.
Everton have started their search for Roberto Martinez’ replacement after his departure was confirmed after the defeat against Sunderland in midweek, which capped off what has been a disappointing season for the Merseyside giants.
A number of high-profile targets are on their managerial shortlist but Mourinho is their preferred option, although it’s highly unlikely he would take the job at Goodison Park.
