Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are reacting to news that they’ve refused to sell one star in their squad to another Premier League side, although they anticipate he’ll still be on the way out.
The Daily Mirror states Liverpool have rejected an £8m bid from Swansea City for the services of Welsh international Joe Allen, who has been a rising star in Wales’ European Championship campaign so far.
Allen, dubbed by many as ‘the Welsh Pirlo’, has excelled at Euro 2016 but his future at club level remains uncertain, with the 26-year-old seeing his contract expiring in 12 months and it being unlikely his spell at Anfield will be extended.
Swansea are keen to bring back the player who left them for Merseyside four years ago but Liverpool are demanding at least £10m for the player’s services, which means the Welsh side will have to improve their bid.
Our landlord feels this deal will come through though, after further negotiations between the two sides.
Liverpool fans, is selling Allen the right decision? Let us know in the comments below!
