Pressure on Premier League boss intensifies

West Bromwich Albion v Manchester United - Barclays Premier LeagueThe Manchester United supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern are anxious ahead of Monday night’s FA Cup game with League One outfit Shrewsbury Town, given the Red Devils’ recent patchy form.

The landlord has spotted an intriguing piece of news regarding United in the Star on Sunday, which suggests the club could be set to sack boss Louis van Gaal if they fail to beat their League One opponents on Monday night.

The style of play which United have been playing this season has drawn excessive criticism from United fans including one young man here in the Tavern who can’t believe that the Dutchman still has a job.

It is highly unlikely that United should be defeated tomorrow but given this revelation the pressure now intensifies.

One United fan is playing pool in the Tavern and thinks van Gaal should have gone weeks ago, but conceded that the Dutchman is now likely to get until the end of the season.

United fans… What do you make to this news? Should the club change their manager?
