Prime Man United defensive target rules out transfer

GodinManchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have ordered rounds of our strongest spirits in the bar today, as they seek to forget comments made by a prime target of theirs.

Talksport quote Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin as stating he will never leave the Spanish side, quashing links to Manchester United.

The 29-year-old defender has spent the last five years at Atletico and helped Diego Simeone’s side clinch a historic La Liga title in 2014, the year they also reached the final of the Champions League.

Whilst United are extremely keen on the Uruguayan defender, he told AS there was no chance of him leaving.

“I’m with Atletico to the death. I’m a fan again. I’ve become enchanted by the club so I decided to stay and every day I’m happier I made that decision. I feel I can give more to Atletico and we can achieve important things. The best is yet to come.”

Our United regulars were dreaming of a defensive signing in the sort of calibre that Godin presents so they’re taking it extremely hard that they’ve got no chance of landing the defender.
