Primeira Liga star to become Liverpool’s fourth signing

Lazar MarkovicLiverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have activated celebration mode after their club activated a £20 million release clause in the contract of their latest transfer target.

Chelsea had also shown an interest in the Lazar Markovic, but according to the Daily Mail, and despite needing to iron out a few payment and personal details, it’s believed he is all but a Liverpool player.

The Serbian international netted seven goals in 49 games for Benfica last season and has scored twice in 12 appearances for his country.

Liverpool are well on their way to spending the money raised by the impending sale of Luis Suarez having signed Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can for a combined total of almost £40 million.

Markovic will be the fourth attacking addition for Liverpool but it is the defence that many people feel needs the most work this summer.

A deal to sign Dejan Lovren is also set to be completed later this summer if the Croatian defender gets his way after telling Southampton he wants out of the St. Mary’s club.
