There is no doubt that the start of the Premier League so far has brought a number of memorable moments, with already a large amount of goals and surprising performances that has it set this year up to be a promising season.
However, while many think that the season has all the makings to be one of the best so far, with the number of inconsistencies with the top four clubs, is it really one of the highest quality seasons to date or is it simply a case of those inconsistencies making the season seem of a much higher calibre than it actually keeping the teams close and therefore competitive?
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Spurs already tasting defeat this season and while this could be seen as somewhat of a positive in terms of gaining some focus as to the challenges ahead this year, the fact that no team has seemed to establish an almost invincible persona to this point, the door for the Premier League title has been left wide open for a number of hopefuls.
Manchester United are the only club who are yet to lose a game in the league this season and although they have shown glimmers of quality which could make them deserved Premier League champions, with the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Nani making promising starts to the season, their inability to seemingly see out a game and keep a clean sheet must be a concern for boss Alex Ferguson and a concern which if continues will make it incredibly difficult for the Old Trafford to finish the season at the top of the summit.
Although no club has looked as if they are going to run away with the league this season, if one team has make the best start to the season this year it would most definitely be Chelsea. 5 points clear after 8 games, 23 goals scored with only 2 conceded makes for very impressive reading and at a glance would make it look like they are unbeatable but behind the incredible figures hides an unproven quality to their challenge.
Even though the West London club had an impressive 2-0 victory over title rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge a couple of weeks ago, the loss away to Manchester City and the fact that a large of their goals so far this season have came in matches against clubs who aren’t seen as the cream of the crop in the Premier League, has left the Blues title challenge lacking the knowledge that they can comfortably pick up the required points needed against the teams around them.
While there is no doubt that this season is set to be memorable for a number of reasons, most notably the potential openness of the title race, this openness, while making the season much more entertaining, has highlighted the inconsistencies of some of the top Premier League clubs to really take Premier League title by the scruff of the neck.
For this reason, this season is set to be the best so far due to the number of potential clubs who could potentially finish on top, but the worst in terms of finding a club who deserves to be head and shoulders about everyone else.
