West Ham United fans here in the Tavern are hoping to keep hold of their star players in the summer, as this season’s performances have been less than convincing.
Indeed, the Hammers continue to battle against relegation to the Championship, as only three points separate them from Swansea City in the relegation zone. Of course, the club are looking to offer a couple of their stars a new contract in an attempt to ensure a successful future, as according to reports in the Standard, West Ham to offer Manuel Lanzini and Declan Rice new long-term deals.
West Ham want to secure midfield ace Manuel Lanzini and teen sensation Declan Rice on new deals.
The Argentine has two-years left on his 35,000-a-week deal, which also has a one-year option to extend. Although, the club are poised to offer the 25-year-old a new long-term deal at the London Stadium, as soon as they can guarantee Premier League football for next season.
Indeed, the desperation to produce a new deal for the midfielder has all come down to the interest filtering in from Liverpool, as a Philippe Coutinho replacement is eyed.
On the other hand, Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Declan Rice is due to be offered a deal that will more than double his salary, as the 19-year-old could earn around £25,000 a week. He has been sensational during his breakthrough season with the Hammers thus far, and looks like receiving just reward for all his hard work and determination in a pressurised situation.
This is great news for West Ham United fans, as the Hammers looks to put plans in place for the present and the future of the club, with two long-term contracts set to be offered. Although, relegation still plays a huge part in the reality of whether these deals will go through, with the Hammers inevitably losing the pair to other clubs should they drop down to the Championship.
