This time last year, Arsenal were about to embark on one of the most dramatic and ultimately failed transfer sagas in Premier League history.
Their pursuit of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez captured plenty of interest, mainly for their bizarre bid of £40 million and an extra £1.
A year on, some reports suggest Arsenal are going to go back in for the Liverpool forward who fired 31 Premier League goals last season.
But do they really need him?
Olivier Giroud enjoyed a pretty decent season by all accounts, with the French forward firing 22 goals for the Gunners in all competitions.
The 27-year-old also carried the burden of being Arsenal’s main forward all season, with injuries to Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott meaning his only support came from Yaya Sanogo and Nicklas Bendtner.
And Giroud’s latest strike for his country in a World Cup warm-up friendly against Norway last night leads you to believe he could get even better next season.
Maybe the Gunners don’t need the silky skills of Suarez up top after all?
