Chelsea supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are delighted to hear the latest rumour concerning their club, courtesy of the Daily Mail.
The publication reckons the Blues have already opened talks with Blues legend Didier Drogba, about returning to Stamford Bridge as a player/coach this summer.
Jose Mourinho is keen to make the 36-year-old the club’s second choice striker behind new signing Diego Costa, as well as giving him coaching responsibilities.
Drogba is a legendary figure at Stamford Bridge and Mourinho hopes his presence will inspire his crop of talented young players further.
Mourinho is keen to bring in an extra striker following the departure of Samuel Eto’o, whilst both Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku are both expected to leave before the end of the transfer window.
Fernando Torres wants to stay meanwhile, despite reported interest from Inter Milan.
Prior to Drogba’s return to Stamford Bridge with Galatasaray in the Champions League in March, Mourinho noted that he would like to see the Ivory Coast international back at Chelsea in the future.
Drogba won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League title during his Chelsea career and is widely considered to be the club’s greatest striker of all-time.
