Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have had their eyebrows raised at comments from Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz.
The Brazilian defender, formerly of Chelsea, believes Philippe Coutinho is the best midfielder in the Premier League- which has shocked many punters, even the Liverpool fans, as English football boasts a wealth of talent.
Furthermore, he has fired a warning to the Reds that Coutinho will leave if they don’t qualify for the Champions League– a fear that many Liverpool fans share.
“Coutinho made the choice to stay at Liverpool without Champions League football this season. I don’t think he will make that choice again.”
“If Liverpool don’t qualify this season for the Champions League, I am sure he will be the most in demand player in Europe next summer.”
The words will do little to calm Liverpool supporters, who are concerned their ambitions cannot be matched by under-fire manager Brendan Rodgers; who could be out of a job if the Reds lose tomorrow’s Merseyside derby.
