PSG set to leapfrog Manchester City in the race to sign Premier League forward

There is a nervous atmosphere among the Manchester City fans in Transfer Tavern after they heard the latest update on their pursuit of Alexis Sanchez.

According to The Sun, Manchester City fear that Paris Saint-Germain are about to overtake them in the race to snap up Arsenal contract rebel Alexis Sanchez.

PSG are reportedly lining up a lucrative contract offer for the Chile international, who could be sold in the January transfer window to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Alexis Sanchez was a top target for Manchester City in the summer transfer window but they fear that they will not be allowed to speak to him about a possible move until next summer.

On the other hand, Arsenal will give PSG permission to hold discussions with the versatile forward in January.

The French giants are hoping to slot Sanchez into a dynamic front trio with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

PSG are set to better Manchester City’s offer of £275k per week for the 28-year-old and could offload Edinson Cavani to fund a move for him.

Sanchez is thought to be holding out for a weekly wage in the region of £400k which PSG admit they cannot afford.

However, Unai Emery’s side remain hopeful of coming to an agreement with Sanchez, leaving Manchester City’s efforts to sign him in doubt.
