Outside of the Premier League top six, Leicester City have one of the stronger squads in the division.
The Foxes, of course, famously won the Premier League title back in the 2015/16 season with the likes of Andy King and Danny Simpson playing their parts behind the main cast of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante.
Like Mahrez and Kante, though, the pair could soon find themselves playing their football away from the King Power.
King and Simpson have yet to make a first-team appearance this campaign with the former not even registered in Leicester’s 25-man Premier League squad, and manager Claude Puel has refused to offer either player any guarantees.
Speaking ahead of Leicester’s league clash tomorrow against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, Puel told Press Association (via Eurosport): “I have discussed with them the difficulty they have to find game time with us.
“We have a lot of competition for places in the squad, in the team, and of course we can not give all the game time we want to the players.”
Looking at Leicester’s squad, Puel has made the right call in not selecting King and Simpson for both the club’s Premier League and Carabao Cup fixtures.
The exclusion of King, especially, is understandable given Puel has the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and Vicente Iborra on top of many others to call upon, all of whom have outperformed the Welshman in the last few seasons.
For King and Simpson, now is the time to depart the King Power.
