Stoke City are said to be hot on the trail of GAIS Goteborg’s 17-year-old striker Fredrik Jonsson. It’s official. Well, not quite.
The youngster, who has been touted as one of the hottest prospects in Swedish football, has scored six goals in 13 appearances in the Swedish under-19s league this season.
It’s not just the Potters who have had their eye on the young Swede. The Italian transfer rumour website Tutto Mercato Web has said that the 17-year-old is also being tracked by Huddersfield. Jonsson also went on trial last winter with German side Werder Bremen.
Despite having not played for the GAIS first team, Jonsson has shown some of the characteristics, which could lead to him to become a good top flight striker in the future.
Financially Jonsson may be worth the gamble to Stoke, but only time will tell if the Swede becomes a future Premier League star or another prospect that fails to make the grade.
