Harry Kane is a hero amongst the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern…
He has risen to stardom over the last few years, cementing himself as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards in front of goal.
However, BBC pundit Garth Crooks is seemingly a tough man to impress. Despite including the Englishman, who scored twice over the weekend, in his Team of the Week, he has also demanded more from him.
Writing for the BBC, he said: “…All this nonsense about winning the Ballon d’Or is a mere distraction. Winning a trophy with Spurs is all that matters at the moment”.
He added: “If Kane cannot deliver that then he and his manager Mauricio Pochettino can forget Ballon d’Ors”.
It is, of course, a very tough ask for Kane to reach the levels of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but it’s hard to argue with Crooks. These players have won trophies every single year throughout their career, whilst Kane simply hasn’t.
Fortunately, the club are in a good position at present. They have a stable manager, they have so many top players, and most importantly, Harry Kane is leading the line.
The possibilities are endless for Tottenham, but they need to step up and win something sooner rather than later.
Harry Kane is in the top 5% of European players, that much is certain. But it’s so hard to get past that level.
So many of Europe’s best are performing weekly for trophy-laden outfits, and until Kane joins in with that, he’ll continue to be left behind.
If Tottenham don’t start winning trophies, Kane may have to move on or kiss goodbye to his dream.
