The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to sign a striker this summer, and BBC Pundit Danny Murphy has revealed who he thinks the club should move for…
Speaking via the BBC, Murphy said: “If he [Lukaku] does get an offer from Chelsea at the end of the season, then it would be a no-brainer – he has to do it”.
He added: “He would be Chelsea’s main striker, playing in the Champions League and challenging for the title in a team which will give him lots of chances, which is exactly where he wants to be”.
Certainly, it is tough to disagree with Murphy – given that Lukaku could fit right in at Stamford Bridge. Diego Costa’s form has been poor in recent weeks, offering very little up top, and an extra signing could force him to improve that record somewhat. Indeed, Costa could also leave – so Lukaku could be given an even greater role.
From Chelsea’s perspective, the deal makes a lot of sense too. Lukaku is the Premier League’s highest goalscorer, and regardless of what anyone says about his play style, goals are what matter – and he is better than anybody at scoring those.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for him to join.
Of course, the Blues have been linked with Alvaro Morata in recent weeks – but our landlord thinks that Lukaku would be a much better choice.
