The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Ruben Loftus-Cheek to get a chance in the first team…
Currently on loan at Crystal Palace, he has looked very good for the Premier League side, and that has left fans questioning why he isn’t involved at Stamford Bridge.
This is a question that Tim Sherwood has been questioning too, having discussed the midfielder whilst serving as a pundit on the Sky Sports show The Debate.
Questioning why he isn’t still at Chelsea, Sherwood described Loftus-Cheek as a ‘Rolls Royce’, and also noted that he is more than good enough to be playing in and around the Chelsea first team this season.

It’s tough to argue with him here, as, given Chelsea’s struggles in the middle-of-the-park combined with Loftus-Cheek’s fine form, it’s clear that he would be well suited to the role.
However, it’s also important to note that, given that he hasn’t played much football in recent years, regular games are important, and so perhaps a year away remains the best course of action.
Either way, he is looking good, and a Chelsea future for him must be a priority for the Blues.
Loftus-Cheek looks set to keep his place under Roy Hodgson, and with good reason. He has looked fantastic in the Palace midfield, having finally had a chance to show what he can do.
Excellent dribbling, tackling and running – he has everything to make it at the highest level.
