The Mirror reveal that QPR, Aston Villa and Stoke City are all chasing Clint Dempsey with the United States international ready to make a loan return to the Premier League from Seattle Sounders.
The cluster of clubs that are chasing him will hope that signing him on loan will give their respective squads a significant boost while his experience of the English top flight will inspire a surge of momentum heading into the latter stages of the season.
The USA skipper – who has earned 110 caps for his country – is set to return to England during the MLS close season like last season when the 31-year-old returned to his former club Fulham.
This time around it is QPR, Aston Villa and Stoke who have declared their interest in the experienced forward and punters in the tavern believe that he will tempted to join QPR.
This is because they are convinced that Harry Redknapp will persuade him with the attraction of living in West London once more while enticing him with the challenge of turning around the current state of affairs at Loftus Road.
His United States international coach Jurgen Klinsmann hopes that his talisman will remain fit and sharp courtesy of the temporary loan move.
Klinsmann said: “We want Clint to remain sharp and play in a competitive environment.”
