Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Queens Park Rangers star, Adel Taarabt is wanted by Italian giants Juventus.
Neill Warnock pulled off an absolute master stroke when he signed the Moroccan international last summer after a spell on loan at the newly crowned Championship champions. After being given the opportunity to captain the side, the young midfielder started to achieve his potential as he single-handedly won games for the London club.
There is no question that Warnock’s men were deserved champions of the English second flight last season but his prized asset was the outstanding star and is attracting interest from some of the world’s greatest clubs.
Reports in January were suggesting that Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson was keen in bringing the young star to Old Trafford. Interest from the Manchester club seems to have cooled as they have focused their attention on other targets.
Premier League runners up, Chelsea are also rumoured to have some interest in the midfielder if their attempts to bring Luka Modric or Wesley Sneijder to the Bridge fail to materialise. The frontrunners in the chase for the Moroccan’s signature now seem to be Juventus as the Italian media suggest there is serious interest from the Turin club.
Many have questioned whether Adel Taarabt will be able to perform to the same standard at a higher level but his performances have been so exceptional that the top clubs have acknowledged his potential to become a world beater.
Andy Carroll proved in January that a player performing so well in the Championship can take that form into the Premiership, after making his big money move to Liverpool. Adel Taarabt will be keen to prove he can make it at the highest level after outclassing everyone else in the Championship last term.
Taarabt has been likened to Juventus legend, Zinedine Zidane in the way he moves elegantly round the pitch, dictating the game in the hole between midfield and attack.
Queens Park Rangers will be desperate to keep hold of their talisman as they prepare for Premier League football but it will be a struggle if Europe’s top clubs come knocking. The Championship player of the year deserves to play at the highest level and prove his genius on the world stage and this summer, he might just get an offer that will be too good to refuse.
