No matter how many times Daniel Sturridge peers down that camera and tells us all his admiration for Chelsea, it’s not going to change the fact he needs to seek first team football elsewhere… for now at least.
He is clearly a talent, and since his loan spell at Bolton kicked off his hunger in front of goal is certain to have caught the eye of Carlo Ancelotti, as the 21 year old has fired an impressive eight goals in 11 games for the trotters.
Whilst the Italian has watched his £50 million signing Fernando Torres struggle to find form, he has looked on as the brummie born hit man has taken his opportunity by storm as he has proven to become a fan favourite at the Reebok in a short space of time.
Sturridge has the ability to play first team football week in week out and I believe if he were to find that opportunity on loan for a full season, instead of losing confidence and shivering his boots off on the bench at the Bridge, he would finally get the break he deserves.
During his time at Manchester City and Chelsea he has mainly been a fringe player and I believe his desire to get on the team sheet and punish defences will prove too much for the eager striker to yet again take a back seat.
With likes of Q.P.R set to recruit some fire power that can cut it with the big boys I think Loftus road could be the perfect destination for both player and club. Neil Warnock would gain a clinical finisher and the England U’21 star would get the opportunity to fill his boots and show Chelsea just what they’re missing as he leads the line for Rangers.
The other option would be another stint in the North with Bolton. I’m sure Owen Coyle wouldn’t turn his nose up at the idea and it would be a big hit with the fans. Sturridge is familiar with the surroundings and could carry on where he left off.
If he fancy’s a change of scenery I’m sure he would create a dog fight in the North east for his assistance as both Sunderland and Newcastle look to solve their problems up top.
He needs a big season on loan to prove his pedigree is up there with the likes of Drogba, Torres and Anelka and I’m sure there will be plenty of takers if he decides to grasp that opportunity.
