QPR boss Harry Redknapp disappointed Football Transfer Tavern punters yesterday with news that the club are yet to have progressed with their attempt to bring Robbie Keane and Joe Cole to Loftus Road.
It is believed that the former Tottenham manager has enquired about the availability of Liverpool’s Cole who could act as possible replacement for Adel Taarabt as he jets off to take part in the upcoming African Cup of Nations for Morocco.
Robbie Keane is also on Redknapp’s wanted list and the R’s boss is keen to be reunited with his prolific striker whom he managed at Tottenham. Irishman Keane enjoyed a short-term loan spell at Aston Villa last term after the MLS season ended and a similar arrangement had been mooted for the Hoops.
However, Redknapp has played down reports he has already held talks with either of the representatives of the two.
“There’s not really anything happening [with Keane] and nothing with Joe. We’ve not done anything with anybody really,” Redknapp told West London Sport.
“We’ve been concentrating on just trying to get a team out there to get a result against Newcastle this weekend.”
QPR won their first game of the season last weekend and must keep getting points to stand a chance of Premier League survival.
