Quality Chelsea target opens door to Premier League move

MarquinhosChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t quite had a comfortable season but they’re optimistically discussing the plans for the next campaign over a few drinks- and there’s some positive developments.

Squawka state Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has revealed his ambition to play in the Premier League, where Chelsea are extremely keen on bringing him.

Marquinhos has constantly been linked with a move to England ever since his first emergence across the channel and the links intensified during a period where the player’s involvement was drastically decreased behind compatriots David Luiz and Thiago Silva.

Whilst the 21-year-old has since enjoyed more regular opportunities, playing the full 90 minutes of PSG’s victory over the Blues a few weeks back, he revealed his desire to move to England in the future. Speaking ahead of the second-leg of a Champions League match-up tomorrow, the Brazilian said:

“The Premier League is the number one best league in the world. It’s a very competitive football. There are not weak teams at all.”

“I just like the league itself but I haven’t got an English side that I follow closely,” he added. “It’d be fantastic to have this opportunity [to play in England] one day, but now I’m focused on PSG.”

Our landlord believes that, despite these comments, it will be a few years until Marquinhos moves to the Premier League, as he’s a crucial part of PSG’s ambition to dominate the European stage.
