Quality Liverpool midfield target urged to snub Klopp’s advances

gotzeLiverpool and Jurgen Klopp are likely to enjoy a mass overhaul this summer, with the aim of returning to the Champions League, but a hurdle has been placed in front of them in the chase for a quality midfield signing.

The Liverpool Echo quote Mario Gotze’s Bayern Munich team-mate Robert Lewandowski as urging the 23-year-old to forget ‘silly’ rumours and prove himself with the Bavarian giants.

The duo, who both played under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, have experience vast differences in their Bayern Munich careers with Lewandowski becoming one of the best strikers in Europe, whilst Gotze struggles to earn regular chances in the first-team.

However, with Carlo Ancelotti replacing Pep Guardiola this summer, there’s a chance for Gotze to revive his career with the Bundesliga giants and Lewandowski has urged him to stay with Bayern for a long time.

“Mario proved during the international break that he is always capable of showing what he can do and that he is a great player. He should not be reading what people say about him in the papers. He does not need all the extra pressure.”

“Mario knows how to deal with it, though. He is used to it. It is silly that there is so much talk about him. He is a Bayern player and he has plenty of games left until the end of the season to prove that he is good enough for Bayern.”

“He has plenty of time to prove his critics wrong. He should stay at Bayern for a long time because he is a great player.”

If Gotze does decide it’s time for a new venture next season then Liverpool will remain favourites for his signature, although they will face immense competition.
