There’s been some disappointing news for Premier League fans in the Transfer Tavern, as a quality target as ruled-out a potential move to England.
TalkSport quote Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oscar De Marcos as stating he will snub interest from Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as Juventus, in order to remain with his Basque employers until he retires.
The news has passed by me, but nobody has told me anything. If it’s true, it is because I’m doing things right with the Athletic. More importantly I don’t let it worry me. Today I think my future is in the Athletic and I’ll finish my career here. I only see here.”
The 26-year-old has been scouted by Premier League clubs this season and his impressive performances have made him a leading target for many. However, with Bilbao having close ties to the Basque nation as they only employ players from that region, all the player’s have a strong bond with the club.
Furthermore, history suggests De Marcos will have a mammoth release clause in his contract.
